CWEL projects related to turfgrasses are centered around water and urban sustainability. For example, we are evaluating a number of turfgrasses for their use in Utah and the Intermountain West region. Research is conducted in cooperation with the National Turfgrass Evaluation program. We have an active breeding program to develop bluegrass with greater drought and salt tolerance. In addition, we are studying various other species for their adaptation in our unique and challenging urban environments.
